This is a list of every active character/series that's active at the point of the order we're at (late 1937). I'll try to keep it updated.
-Dave Dean
Created By: Norman Daniels and Fred Guardineer
Description: Dave Dean is your typical sailor tough guy, fighting criminals, sharks, and even supernatural threats)? on the high seas. He's accompanied by the (even more) hot-headed Shorty, his fellow sailor who doesn't miss a chance to get into a fight (necessary or otherwise). Dave Dean's stories are very pulpy (Norman Daniels was a prolific pulp action-adventure writer at the time) and honestly not very interesting to me.
Dave Dean sailed the open seas for about three or four issues of Funny Pages in the late 1930s. He's a pretty obscure character.
Why it's part of the order: The story "Devil of the Deep" (Dave's first appearance), originally printed in Funny Pages #1(1937) was later reprinted by Marvel (then Timely) as "Deep Sea Demon" in Mystic Comics #1 (1940). Years later, Dave Dean had a brief mention in a handbook that officially confirmed this story as having occurred in the 616 universe.
First appearance: Funny Pages #1(1937) (Actual first appearance) / Funny Pages (1936) #2 [S Story] (As part of the order) / Mystic Comics #1 (1940) (As part of the Marvel Universe)
